1. Casa Velas

Overview

You'll be forgiven for thinking you're in Spain while wandering by the terra-cotta-topped buildings that comprise the elegant Casa Velas, an adult-only, luxury all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta. With no kids to splash your book as you read by the infinity pool, and lavish accommodations that include large marble bathrooms, pillow menus, and private plunge pools (for some), you won't find it hard to relax.

Rooms

While all the rooms here are incredible, the posh Grand Class Plus suites are my favorite thanks to their ample amounts of space and private plunge pool in the garden. Some suites have Jacuzzi hot tubs in the bathroom, as well. The Master Suite Plus rooms are also lovely, with Jacuzzis in the bathroom and views over the gardens or the golf course.

Restaurants

When it comes time to reward your taste buds, head to the two on-site restaurants, Emiliano or Táo Beach Club, for delectable Mexican fare. Or visit the resort's sister property, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit to tuck into a meal at one of their gourmet spots.

Pool

The pool area at Casa Velas is my favorite area on the property. This tranquil oasis is just out behind the lobby, surrounded by lush gardens and with direct access to the restaurant. Plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas encircle the deep blue, tropical pool. Not far from the pool area is a beautiful Zen garden perfect for meditation or a lovely walk in nature.

Guests should note that Casa Velas is not located on the beach. But if guests want access to the beach, they can take the shuttle from the hotel to Táu Beach Club, which offers access to Casa Velas guests.

2. Hotel Mousai

Overview

For years, this has been my favorite all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta, thanks to the spectacular setting sandwiched between lush rainforest and cerulean bay. Perched overlooking one of the best beaches in Puerto Vallarta, the boutique, adults-only, all-inclusive resort is flush with contemporary design and a bevy of ways to help you relax.

In 2021 Hotel Mousai opened a second tower with additional rooms, restaurants, and a second rooftop pool. The resort will also open a third tower in 2025.

Rooms

Hotel Mousai is all about making a statement: pops of color, a touch of glam, and a bold design. Think Art Deco for the 21st century. The rooms here are spectacular, each with massive terraces complete with hammocks and plunge pools overlooking the jungle or the ocean (or both).

Tech touches include iPad-controlled lights, music, and blinds. Plus, guests can order room service from the iPad. The hotel has the option to choose an all-inclusive plan or a European Plan, depending on what suits them best.

Restaurants

While guests have the option of all-inclusive versus EP, my recommendation is to go all-inclusive. You won't be sorry, as the food at Hotel Mousai is truly outstanding. A favorite restaurant of mine here is Hiroshi, which serves incredible sushi and sashimi. I also love the rooftop restaurants on the north and south towers, which serve everything from ceviches and wraps to grilled meat and seafood.

The two Mousai towers have a total of six restaurants, plus guests of Mousai have access to the two restaurants at the sister hotel, Garza Blanca just down the hill.

Spa

The Spa at Hotel Mousai is much more than a relaxing escape. It is an entire experience. Let's start with the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the Bay of Banderas from the wet area. Whether you're relaxing in one of the comfortable lounge chairs with a cup of tea or dipping from hot tub to cold plunge, you'll be able to enjoy sweeping ocean views. The spa will be expanding when the new tower opens in 2025.

Pool and Beach

One thing is for certain when I stay at Hotel Mousai — I'm always up at the rooftop pool. Both pools on either tower offer the most gorgeous views over the mountains and the ocean, with plush day beds and lounge chairs, a delicious menu, and a relaxing, adults-only vibe. These rooftop perches are the jewels in the crown of an otherwise over-the-top resort.

Note that guests do have access to the beach at Garza Blanca, but you'll have to take a quick two-minute shuttle to reach the beach. Personally, I don't ever see a reason to leave the pools.

3. Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

Overview

While the incredible Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit isn't actually in Puerto Vallarta, it lies a quick jaunt away, in the resort town of Nuevo Vallarta. This five-star resort has perfected the art of making an all-inclusive vacation feel sumptuous. Their motto is: "beyond all-inclusive, beyond all compare." For the price you'll pay per night, you'll happily accept high-end inclusions.

Rooms

The all-suite resort has a variety of room categories to choose from. The Ocean Front Master Suites are great for couples. These rooms have fully furnished terraces and Jacuzzis in the bathrooms.

Grand Terrace Suites are my personal favorites, with a second-floor outdoor terrace with a whirlpool tub and beds for spa treatments.

Spa

Speaking of the spa, the SE Spa by Grand Velas is an iconic wellness experience. The massive spa has 20 cabins and a menu of more than 30 treatments. Be sure to leave extra time for the Water Ceremony hydrotherapy experience.

Pool and Beach

The water features at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit are really beautiful. The beachfront resort sits on a wide stretch of fluffy sand overlooking the Bay of Banderas, the mountains, and the skyline of Puerto Vallarta in the distance. Guests can relax on the three-tiered infinity pool deck or steal away in one of the private cabanas on the beach.

Restaurants

Each of the resort's six restaurants is as unique and stunning as the next, with menus offering international fare so delicious that you won't believe it's complimentary. Swim up to Aqua Bar for a quick snack, grab a casual bite at oceanfront Azul, or tuck into Mexican cuisine at Frida.

4. Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel and Romantic Getaway

Overview

When people ask me where they should stay in Puerto Vallarta, I frequently recommend Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel and Romantic Getaway. I love this all-inclusive resort for many reasons, but first and foremost, I think it has the best location in town. It's located in the Cinco de Diciembre neighborhood, which means it has a beautiful beachfront and is also within walking distance to the sites and entertainment of downtown.

Add to that stylish and comfortable rooms, great, food, two pools, and a slice of beachfront and it's easy to see why this is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta.

Rooms

At this intimately sized adults-only resort (there are only 80 rooms and suites), you can expect tranquility and romance around every corner at this passionate spot. A five-minute, anti-stress welcome massage will help get you in the mood to unwind, while in-room aromatherapy (choose your scent from a dedicated menu), plush bedding, Jacuzzis (for some), and oceanfront private balconies will keep you enamored throughout your trip.

Restaurants

Book the All-Inclusive Gourmet Plan for the following perks: meals at the three a la carte restaurants; beverages throughout the property; theme nights; in-room dining; and in-room mini bar. The all-inclusive rate also includes activities like yoga classes, paddleboarding, and cycling.

Beach and Pool

The resort sits overlooking a small stretch of beachfront. While the beach is perfectly fine, it's the pool scene here that is superior. The resort has two oceanfront pools, complete with food and drink service, centrally located in the heart of the property. One of the highlights is the long jetty that extends out into the bay — perfect for an outdoor massage or a romantic dinner at sunset.

5. Velas Vallarta

Overview

You won't be alone during a stay at the magnificent Velas Vallarta, one of the top all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta. The sister resort to Casa Velas, this massive complex boasts 345 spacious suites all set on 10 acres that overlook Banderas Bay.

Rooms

The suites encircle a central pool, as well as overlook the Bay of Banderas. You'll have a wide variety of suites to choose from, but my favorites are the Ocean Front Suites, with a private terrace and beautiful views out over the bay.

That said, all rooms have furnished balconies or terraces and bright Mexican décor, as well as fully-equipped kitchens; not that you'll need to cook.

Restaurants

Meals at three on-site restaurants are complimentary with your stay. La Ribera Restaurant is my personal favorite for the outdoor dining experience and the gorgeous views. The menu here is steak, seafood, burgers, salads — everything you'd want for a beachfront dining experience. Plus, the restaurant is steps from the pool so you're never very far from all the vacation essentials.

Minibar treats and drinks are also included, as is a kids' club, nightly entertainment, and multiple activities. A spa, scuba lessons, and tennis clinic are also available, for a fee.

Pool and Beach

Velas Vallarta boasts a brag-worthy pool scene at its sprawling central pool deck. Lovely footbridges cross over sections of the pool, shrouded in thick jungle foliage making a tropical oasis environment. There is even a lazy river that winds its way between the pools.

All of this leads out to a prime stretch of beautiful beachfront — one of the best in Puerto Vallarta — with plenty of space to sprawl out on the soft sand.

6. Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta

Accommodation: Secrets® Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta

Overview

Secrets® Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta may look familiar. It's on the same property as the Dreams® Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa. Don't worry if you're planning a romantic holiday as this plush retreat is an adult-only all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta. While guests of Secrets® are allowed to visit and use the amenities found at the Dreams property, children aren't allowed to make their way into this quiet haven.

Unlimited luxury is available at this pretty resort. That means everything is included with your stay–unlimited room service, drinks, meals, beach and pool service, entertainment, and activities. Guests have five dining options to choose from, and a variety of cuisines to sample. They're also able to enjoy the lounges and restaurants at the neighboring resort.

Rooms

The resort has 271 suites, many of which have upgraded amenities like private plunge pools or outdoor hot tubs. My recommendation is to upgrade to a Preferred Club guest room, which comes with additional perks like access to the Preferred Club lounge and personalized check-in.

Restaurants

The resort has seven different dining options, from casual outdoor grilled food to haute French fine dining. Guests are partial to the Gohan Sushi Bar, as well as the Oceanview Oceana seafood restaurant.

Spa

The Secrets Spa by Pevonia is one of the jewels of the resort. The 14,000-square-foot space features a hydrotherapy circuit, relaxation lounge, sauna, steam rooms, a refreshment bar, and a menu of massages and body treatments.

Pool and Beach

Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta is an aquatic paradise. It has several different pools, including a main pool and separate activity pools as well as two outdoor hot tubs. It is also overlooking one of the widest stretches of beach around the Bay of Banderas.

7. Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive & Spa

Overview

There's plenty to keep you occupied during a stay at Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive & Spa. It's one of the best resorts in Puerto Vallarta. The inclusive list of activities means you can swim in the warm ocean water, play on the pristine beach, plunge in the gorgeous pool, take a cooking class, learn to salsa dance, and much more during your vacation.

Rooms

Marble floors, chic Mexican décor, and private balconies (or terraces) greet guests of this lovely, four-star resort. Depending on which they choose, guests can enjoy a mountain or ocean view. To be honest, both vistas are so exceptional that you really can't go wrong.

Restaurants

You can also enjoy meals and beverages at the resort's six eateries. Restaurants include casual seafood, Asian, Mexican, Italian, and poolside grill options.

Pool and Beach

The adults-only SONNE Beach Club is a definite plus for couples looking for romance (and a bit of peace and quiet). It is home to its own rooftop infinity pool. Brought the kids along? No worries. Send them to the Fiesta Kids Club or Teens Club while you enjoy the Beach Club or services at the Nakawè Spa.

Overview

You'll love living in the lap of luxury at Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa. Winner of a AAA Four Diamond award, this luxe resort in Puerto Vallarta has everything you need to feel regal: a heavenly 14,000-square-foot spa, and seven top-rate eateries, including four à la carte restaurants.

Rooms

Elegant suites (327 of them to be exact) offer fabulous garden or Banderas Bay views from their furnished balcony or terrace. Swim-out suites are especially popular with families.

Up the ante with an even more exclusive stay in the Preferred Club. Your suite will be that much more divine, and you'll have access to a special concierge, an exclusive lounge, and a restricted lunch option at Castaways restaurant.

Families

The dinosaur-themed Explorer's Club and Core Zone Teen's Club help make this one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta for families. Plus, the resort boasts multiple fun, complimentary activities, like non-motorized water sports, day and night entertainment, and classes, as well as three pools, including a kids' pool.

Restaurants

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa shares some of its restaurants with the next-door Secrets resort. The family-friendly restaurants are open to all, though guests should note that children are only permitted on the patio of Himitsu, the Asian fusion restaurant.

Sandwiched between 85 acres of dense jungle and the sparkling waves of the Pacific Ocean, it's impossible to have a bad view at this top all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta.

Rooms

Rooms here are spread across five different towers, all of which have views of the thick, mountainous jungle or the rich, blue bay. The Ultra Suite is where it's at if you're hoping for unsurpassed views from the highest floors. That said, all suites boast ocean vistas and private balconies.

Restaurants

Meals at the three on-site restaurants, beverages, room service, minibar offerings, entertainment, and activities like kayaking are included in the Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive Package Puerto Vallarta.

Beach and Pool

Garza Blanca has coveted real estate right on a stretch of one of the best beaches in Puerto Vallarta. The pool area overlooks the beach and guests can take advantage of the warm, shallow, gentle swimming section. One of the most popular activities is to take the kayaks out to paddle over to the Los Arcos rock formations that have become iconic in Puerto Vallarta.

10. Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta

Overview

Even if you've never stayed in a Hard Rock Hotel, you likely know they're epic. The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta is no different; in fact, this luxury resort is one of the best all-inclusive resorts for families in Puerto Vallarta.

Rooms

The resort features 362 guest rooms and ocean-view suites. Each one has its own hydro spa tub (as is the rockstar way!). But if you're really looking to dial up the energy, the Rock Star Suite Ocean View is the way to stay in style, complete with its own private collection of Shakira and Madonna memorabilia.

Families

Guests of all ages will have a rockin' good time at this stellar resort, set in the nearby suburb of Nuevo Vallarta. In addition to a kids' pool with waterslides and the super fun entertainment and activities at Roxity Kids Club, the beach boasts plenty of fun activities, like deep-sea fishing, swimming with dolphins, kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

Restaurants

All-inclusive rates get you meals, drinks, and snacks at the five on-site restaurants and multiple snack bars. Ipanema is one of the most popular restaurants here thanks to the endless parade of delicious grilled specialties. Designed after a Brazilian churrascaria, waiters come by with endless skewers of beef, chicken, and other meats and will fill your plate until you say stop.

11. Marival Distinct Luxury Residence Riviera Nayarit

Overview

Another stellar resort in Nuevo Vallarta, Marival Distinct Luxury Residences Riviera Nayarit is the perfect resort for families or couples looking to unwind in a quieter section of Mexico. The plush accommodations make it easy to feel at ease.

Rooms

High-end one- to four-bedroom villas and penthouses feature contemporary furnishings and private pools (or demi-pools) and beautiful views of the garden, pool, or ocean. A welcome basket of snacks, meals, and drinks in the five on-site restaurants, fancy bath amenities like bath salts and scented candles, unlimited greens fees at Flamingos Championship golf course, a free 15-minute spa treatment, tours, activities, and entertainment are all part of your stay.

Beach

While you won't be on the beach when staying at this top all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta, a free shuttle can take you the half mile to the resort's private stretch of soft, golden sand. Once you see the extensive list of items included in your stay, you'll forgive any inconveniences caused by not having a sandy shore at toe's distance.

Then there's complimentary use of the kids' club and a Bali Bed at the Mozzamare Beach Club (once during your stay). Plus, you'll gain all-inclusive access to a further six restaurants at its sister resort, Marival Emotions Resort & Suites. Now that's a lot of perks!

12. Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta

Overview

You can't get much closer to the beach than the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. One of the top all-inclusive resorts for families in Puerto Vallarta, this activity-rich property lies on the shore of Las Estacas Beach, backed by towering lush mountains. It's an easy, 30-minute drive from Puerto Vallarta International Airport.

The resort's motto is: "All you can eat. All you can drink. All you can do. All, included in your room rate." The good news, it is! The offerings at all 10 restaurants, bars, and lounges are complimentary. Non-motorized water sports, access to the oceanfront fitness center, exercise classes, the kidZ club, and minibar snacks and drinks are also part of the deal.

Rooms

The beachfront resort has 335 rooms and suites. The Ocean Front King rooms are particularly wow-worthy, located on higher floors to ensure sweeping views. The only way to beat this room is to book the Ocean View Balcony King, which has a furnished balcony.

Of course, you can really up the ante with a Swim-Up room, which has direct access to a semi-private pool.

Restaurants

You'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to dining options at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. But be sure to book a table at BlaZe, the seaside grill with a gorgeous palapa roof. Sunset is a great time to book this restaurant.

Feeling peckish while lounging by one of the six pools (two of which are kid-friendly)? You won't for long. A Food & Beverage Cart roams the property, offering guests fresh, tasty treats and refreshments as they enjoy their time outside.

13. Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort

Overview

Just a 10-minute drive out from Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romantica, the Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort is an amenity-packed oceanfront getaway with stunning views, spacious suites, and tons of great dining options.

Rooms

If you're hoping for romance, book a room in the adults-only section of the resort. This comes with a dedicated outdoor pool and a lounge on the 11^th floor of the North Tower. Otherwise, the 444 rooms and suites all offer balconies and ocean views, as well as plush bedding and large bathrooms with rainfall showers.

Upgrade to the Club Lounge for added perks like a private check-in, happy hour, special buffet breakfast, and access to the Club Lounge. Kids will adore spending time in the Kids' Club, which is known for its indoor and outdoor fun.

Pools and Beach

You'll likely spend most of your time lounging beachside at the lovely Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort. Perched on the soft golden sand, this pretty resort has an ideal locale for sun-worshipers. The gorgeous outdoor pools will help keep you outside for hours. Tip: I recommend one of the oceanfront cabanas for beautiful views over the bay and an added level of privacy.

Amenities

Included amenities are vast at the eight dining outlets, as well as daily activities, group fitness, yoga, and wellness classes, service at the pool and beach, daily snacks and beverages in an in-room mini-bar, and nightly entertainment. Non-motorized water sports are also complimentary.

Restaurants

With eight restaurants to choose from, you will not run out of fabulous culinary options. A personal favorite for me is Azulinda Market. By day, this deli offers grab-and-go snacks. But after 4pm, it switches to a sushi restaurant serving nigiri, sashimi, and hand rolls, all with views overlooking the bay.

Seasalt, the steakhouse-style restaurant, is also a great option, particularly in the evening when it becomes a more elegant and luxurious experience.

Families

Teens aged 13 to 17 won't feel left out, with their own activities like pool games, pizza nights, breakdance classes, contests, tournaments, and street art and photography workshops.

14. Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta

Overview

One of the best beachfront all-inclusive hotels in Puerto Vallarta, this is a stunning spot to spend a Mexican holiday. It has all the things you'd wish for in a high-end holiday: a spa, wellness center, water activities, and four tasty restaurants serving a variety of cuisines.

Rooms

The resort has 222 rooms, all with beautiful views of the sea. For couples, I recommend the Premier Ocean Front rooms, which are located in the adults-only tower. For families, the Royal Deluxe Ocean View Suite has a capacity for six people.

Pool and Beach

Two words sum up the Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta: elegant luxury. Sleek loungers make it easy to relax poolside while becoming captivated by the stunning oceanfront scenery.

Restaurants

The all-inclusive resort has several restaurants to choose from. El Pescador is an all-day dining restaurant but is known for its special themed evenings. La Trattoria serves delicious Italian cuisine and the Marlyn Azul Snack has casual poolside fare.
