Bad Dürkheim (pop. 15,000), along the Deutsche Weinstrasse, is home to the Wurstmarkt ("Sausage Market"). It is also a health resort, to which many visitors come for its "grape cure" and its sodium chloride medicinal spring (Kurhaus, and Kurgarten; spa treatment establishment; indoor pool and outdoor pool, the Salinarium).
House Catoir is a Baroque building from 1781 that is named for its former owners of the property, family Catoir. The museum contains local history exhibits.
This annual festival is one of the more well-known events in Germany. The festival runs over two weekends in mid-September and includes a giant feast with sausages and homemade breads. Over 30 stalls are set up to sell food and drink, while processions, funfairs and concerts fill the streets.
