Jerusalem - Rockefeller Museum

Going east from Herod's Gate along the outside of the walls of Jerusalem, we see, opposite the northeast corner of the Old City, the complex of the Archeological or Rockefeller Museum, dominated by its massive tower. The museum is named after John D. Rockefeller, who financed its construction in 1927 with a gift of 2million dollars. One of Israel's most important museums, it displays in chronological order Archeological material ranging in date from the Stone Age to the 18th century. Attached to the museum is a large library.
