Mezad Zohar Description
A footpath (3km/2mi) runs up the gorge of the river Zohar, which flows into the Dead Sea at Newe Zohar, to Mezad Zohar, a stronghold situated on a conical crag amid magnificent mountain scenery which was held by the Nabataeans and later by the Byzantines. A fine view of the castle can be had by driving up the road from Newe Zohar to Arad as far as the second viewpoint (on right). From the lower viewpoint there is a magnificent prospect of the Dead Sea and the hills of Jordan.
