The twin villages of Mandelieu-La Napoule, which are bisected by the expressway, are situated 5km/3mi west of Cannes between the mouths of the rivers Siagne and Argentier at the foot of the Massif du Tanneron.
Picturesquely situated by the sea and popular as a holiday resort, the village sector of La Napoule-Plage is overlooked by a restored 14th C. castle (art exhibition) standing on a porphyry rock.
From the nearby hill of San Peire, rising to 131m/430ft above sea level and with a ruined chapel, there is a view of the coast, with apartment blocks and marinas.
