Boulder City Tourist Attractions

The pleasant city of Boulder City is a desert oasis and is located 32 km / 20 miles from Las Vegas. The city has several fine golf courses, open-air swimming pools, walking trails, a historic downtown area and other great recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike. Boulder City is a good place to stay if you are planning to explore Lake Mead or the Hoover dam.

Boulder City Historic District

Visitors to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead should take some time to visit the Boulder City Historic District. Here you will find a good selection of buildings from the 1930's, built when Boulder City was the town created for the dam builders. Of particular note in the Boulder City Historic District is the Boulder Dam Hotel that has been extensively restored to its former glory.

Brunos Indian and Turquoise Museum

For those interested in Native American historical items and turquoise gemstones, Bruno's Indian and Turquoise Museum is just the spot. Visitors can see works of art being created and an excellent gift shop is onsite selling all manner of unique gifts. Bruno's Indian and Turquoise Museum is reputed to have one of the largest collections of turquoise in the United States.

Desert Princess Cruise Boat

A ride on the Desert Princess Cruise Boat in Boulder City is a wonderful way to experience Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. The Mississippi style paddle wheeler will take you on onto the sparkling waters of the lake and provide you with entertaining tidbits of local history.

Hoover Dam Museum

The Hoover Dam Museum in Boulder City is a great place to learn about the history of the dam's creation. The museum features unique 3-dimensional interactive displays that explain the life and times of the people that built the dam. Also on site are a gift shop and a "kids only" area. This can be a fun outing for families.

River Mountain Hiking Trail

The River Mountain Hiking Trail is located off Highway 93 just outside Boulder City. The trail runs for 8.8km / 5.5mi between the Red and Black Mountains. The trail was built in the early 1950's by the Civilian Conservation Corps and is maintained today by the Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department.
