Lemesós - Akrotíri

The Akrotiri peninsula contains a salt lake and the airport of the Akrotiri British Sovereign Base.

Around the lake is an important agricultural area, known as the Phassouri Plantation, where citrus fruits and grapes are grown. There are also a large number of Cyprus trees, which line the roads in spectacular fashion.

It is possible to visit some of the farms; those interested should contact the tourist office. The lake itself, like its counterpart in Larnaca, is a stopping off point for flamingoes.
