Description
(Local Name: Rembrandthuis) Rembrandt, with his wife Saskia, spent his happiest and most successful years when pupils and commissions poured in, in this house on the Jodenbreestraat which is now the Rembrandt museum. It was in this quarter, where Jews had settled from all over the world, that he found the models for his Biblical themes. Here he painted what he had seen during the day on his outings along the canals and the Amstel. The house in which Rembrandt lived for about 20 years has again been furnished in the style of the 17th C. and contains numerous etchings and drawings as well as the painter's own personal objects.
