Strip, Las Vegas

The 2.5mi/4km long central section of Las Vegas Boulevard which runs through the city from northeast to southwest, known as the Strip, is lined with huge entertainment palaces, with revue theaters, nightspots, and luxury hotels set in beautiful gardens. The Strip is particularly impressive at night, when the city is illuminated by an endless succession of glittering neon signs. Every evening there are two shows: the dinner show (floor shows and a generous meal) which in most establishments starts around 8 p.m., and the cocktail show (floor shows and a light supper with cocktails) at 11 p.m.
Most visitors enjoy walking along the Strip and taking in the sights. Generally speaking the Las Vegas Strip runs from Mandalay Bay Hotel to the Treasure Island Hotel.

MGM Grand Hotel

The MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas is easily located across the street from the New York New York Hotel and kitty corner to the Excalibur Resort Hotel. The MGM Grand Hotel has all the amenities visitors would expect to find at a luxury hotel including above average accommodations, an exceptional pool area, a multitude of restaurants, and plenty of entertainment options. Be sure to check out the huge lion head that sits out in front of the hotel. Inside the MGM visitors will find real lines in a glassed in area on the main floor.

Venetian Hotel

The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas is located on "The Strip" across from Treasure Island. It is one of the finer establishments in town and has many interesting attractions to amaze the visitor. The complex consists of a themed shopping arcade built to resemble the city of Venice, complete with blue skies, canals and gondoliers. The canals and gondolas also run outside the hotel and can be seen from the sidewalk while passing by.
The hotel also features many of the main attractions found in Venice such as the Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs along with many others.

Guggenheim Hermitage Museum (closed)

For those with an interest in the arts, the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum is a must when in Las Vegas. Located in the Venetian Resort Hotel, the museum features rare works of art from the grand masters among many others. The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum also hosts national and international touring exhibits in their gallery spaces, be sure to check with the box office to see what's playing when you are in town.

Madame Tussaud's

Madame Tussaud's in Las Vegas is located near the escalators leading up to the Venetian Hotel. Here visitors can see their favorite stars preserved forever in wax. The figures are so lifelike it is almost eerie. At Madame Tussaud's visitors will see everything from Elvis to Shaquille O'Neal.
The overall focus or theme of Madam Tussaud's is on people who are associated with Las Vegas.

Venetian Gondola Rides

The Venetian Gondola Rides are one of the more unusual attractions in Las Vegas. Situated in front of the Venetian Hotel, boats await passengers who are then taken on a ride by their personable gondolier through the shopping arcade inside the Venetian Hotel. The shopping arcade is designed to look exactly the same as the city of Venice in Italy.

Sirens of TI (formerly operated the Buccaneer Bay Sea Battle)

The new show that replaced the Buccaneer Bay Sea Battle at the Treasure Island resort is called the Sirens of TI. It's one of Las Vegas' great free attractions and takes place nightly in front of the hotel. Exploding cannons, fireworks, and a mock sea battle between pirates and sirens of the sea takes place. It's good fun and should not be missed.

King Tut's Tomb, Museum (Closed)

ATTRACTION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
The pyramid shaped Luxor Hotel houses the Las Vegas version of King Tut's Tomb. Although the "tomb" is a replica, visitors will be hard pressed to find the difference between this one and the one discovered by Howard Carter in 1921. Once you have taken the self-guided tour the friendly gift shop sales staff will be happy to sell you a modern day artifact as a memory of your exploration.

Riviera Hotel

The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas is a very large property. The hotel has over 2000 rooms, many with views out over The Strip. In the 1950's & 1960's the Riviera Hotel was known as the home of the "Rat Pack" of entertainers including Sammy Davis Jr. The hotel has continued to draw on this theme.

Aladdin Resort (closed)

ATTRACTION IS CLOSED.
The Aladdin Resort, located right on The Las Vegas Strip, is one of the city's premier hotels. Visitors never have to leave the Aladdin Resort because every conceivable convenience is located right on the property. Multiple restaurants, varied entertainment, and a complete shopping mall are all under one roof. Note that the Aladdin Resort is operating under the name Planet Hollywood Resort Hotel as of 2007.

Circus Circus

As the name Circus Circus Hotel suggests, this Las Vegas landmark has a permanent circus in residence. The circus show is one of the city's best free attractions and always entertaining with clowns and trick-performing animals. Circus Circus has over 3700 rooms and has a wide variety of dining options, including a steakhouse rated the best in Las Vegas for 17 years running.
This hotel is located a fair distance from the mega resorts such as MGM or Caesar's Palace.
