Florence - Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area

Behind Florence begins the magnificent dune landscape of Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Then it suddenly becomes noisy again, as the area around Coos Bay has the largest settlement on the coast. Leaving this behind, we soon see the Cape Blanco lighthouse, built in 1878, and then drive along what is probably the most beautiful section of the coast road, to Gold Beach.
