Frauenmauerhöhle
North of Eisernerz (2.75 hours' walk) is an interesting cave, the Frauenmauerhöhle (west entrance 1,435m/4,708ft); a guide is essential and warm clothing is advisable. The main cave tunnels right through the mountain for 640m/700yds, with numerous side passages. Just beyond the entrance, on the left, will be found the Eiskammer (Ice Chamber), with numerous pillars of ice.

It takes between 30 and 45minutes to reach the east entrance (1,560m/5,118ft), from which there is a magnificent view of the Hochschwab group. From the east entrance it is 2.5hours' walk down to Tragöss-Oberort, or 1.75 hours to the Sonnenschien-Alm (see Bruck an der Mur, Surrroundings).
