In the north-western corner of Arkansas is the town of Fayetteville (pop. 58,000), seat of the University of Arkansas. Places of interest include the Headquarters house (1853), which served as headquarters for both the Unionists and the Confederation, and Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park where a Civil War battle was fought on December 7th 1862. South of the town is the picturesque Devil's Den State Park.
On display at the Arkansas Air Museum are 1920s and 30s racing planes, biplanes, and information on the history of flying. The building which houses the museum is a 1940s era aircraft hangar.
The vintage aircraft on display in the Arkansas Air Museum are in flying condition.

Pea Ridge National Military Park is one of the best preserved battlefields as the site of a battle that saved Missouri in 1862. Nearly 26,000 soldiers fought to determine whether Missouri would remain under Union control, and whether or not Federal armies could continue their offensive south through the Mississippi River Valley.
The park visitor center contains a museum, which features permanent and revolving exhibits.

The Unviersity Museum offers a range of displays on archaeology, ethnography, geology, history, physical anthropology, botany and zoology from prehistoric exhibits to the pioneer era.
The Walton Arts Center houses the Baum Walker Hall, Joy Pratt Markham Gallery, Cynthia H. Coughlin Gallery, McBride Studio and Starr Theatre. It is a center for performing arts and entertainment.
Baum Walker Hall is an auditorium that is used for recitals, lectures, musical performances, ceremonies and concerts. Artwork displays vary throughout the year in the Cynthia H. Coughlin Gallery.
The Starr Theatre is a black box theatre with theatrical lighting that offers intimate performances in an elegant setting.
