Yellowstone - Yellowstone Lake
In the southern half of the National Park, at an altitude of 7737 ft, is Yellowstone Lake (area 137 sq. mi.; depth up to 320 ft. Well stocked with fish, it is an angler's paradise. Here too can be seen many species of waterfowl that have become rare elsewhere.

West Thumb
The West Thumb, an offshoot on the west side of Yellowstone Lake, is a water-filled caldera that came into being some 150,000 years ago. On its western edge is the little West Thumb. On the north-west shore of Yellowstone Lake are the little townships of Bridge Bay, Lake Village and Fishing Bridge, with a number of motels, campgrounds and various leisure facilities.
