Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument

The Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument occupies 1.7 million acres of southern Utah. The monument is divided into three distinct regions: Grand Staircase, Kaiparowits Plateau and the Escalante Canyons.
It is surrounded by Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks on the west and east, and by the Dixie National Forest and Lake Powell on the north and south.
The wildlife is concentrated around the Paria and Escalante Rivers.
