Si Saket

Si Saket, the chief town of the province with the same name, lies about 430 km (267 mi.) north-east of Bangkok near the Menam Nun, which makes its way to the Mekong, in the southern part of north-east Thailand. The Cambodian border, which is marked by the impressive mountain chain Dong Rak, up to 755 m (2477 ft) high in places, is about 70 km (43 mi.) away. The rest of the region is famous for the legacy of its magnificent Khmer culture; the Khao Phra wiharn is, together with the temple grounds of Phimai and Prakhon Chai, the most important example of this highly developed architecture.
