Toledo Attractions

Cosi is a science museum located in downtown Toledo. The museum offers over 300 exhibits, most of which are designed to be hands-on educational experiences. Cosi is geared towards children and families. There are a variety of themes that children can learn about. Entertaining demonstrations are part of the experience at Cosi.

The Toledo Botanical Garden has a vast number of gardens that include a Shade Garden, Azalea and Rhododendron, Aquatic Garden, Perennial Garden, English Border Garden, Cottage Garden, Grass Garden, Pioneer Garden, Rose Garden, Vegetable Garden, Herb Garden, and more. As you may have guessed, the best time to visit the Toledo Botanical Garden is between spring and fall but walking trails make this a pleasant place to visit year round.

The Toledo Firefighter's Museum is housed in the 1920s, Old Number 18 Fire House. On display at the museum is a variety of vintage firefighting equipment although the pride and joy of the facility is the Neptune. This is an 1837 hand-pulled, hand-operated fire pump, which was also Toledo's first.

The Toledo Firefighter's Museum has everything to help recreate firefighting days of old, including the Firefighters sleeping quarters and Command officers room as they would have been in the early days of firefighting.

The fantastic Toledo Museum of Art has a collection of over 30,000 pieces. The museum has a diverse collection ranging from African Art right through to Modern pieces. Also of note is the spectacular Glass Pavilion, renown in North America. The Toledo Museum of Art has an active education program along with a regular roster of visiting national and international exhibitions.

The Toledo Zoo makes for a great afternoon outing. Here visitors will find an amazing assortment of animals including some white tigers. The Toledo Zoo has a children's zoo area and an active program of education and events. The zoo was first opened in 1900 and underwent significant expansion and growth in the 1980's.

Wildwood Manor House is located in Toledo and is closely associated with the city. Wildwood Manor is located on the grounds of the Wildwood Preserve Metropark. This park consists of over 500 acres, 300 of which are forested. In the spring the park is resplendent with wildflowers and in the Fall, the foliage is spectacular.

The Willis B Boyer is a museum ship located in the International Park in Toledo. This city landmark is a floating historical artifact. The Willis B Boyer was launched in 1911 and for many years was the world's largest bulk freighter. Today visitors will be treated to a wonderfully restored ship that showcases Toledo's role in the rich maritime history of the United States.
