The Canton Museum of Art has expanded over the years since its beginning in 1935 when it was located in the Canton Public Library. The museum has outgrown two facilities during the course of its history. The Canton Museum of Art offers a permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, as well as public programs and classes. The Cultural Center for the Arts is an all in one facility featuring performances by the Canton Ballet, Canton Symphony, the Canton Civic Opera, and the Players Guild Theatre. It is also home to the Canton Museum of Art. Visitors can take in a performance or wander through the museum to see the permanent collection or view one of the temporary exhibitions. The Canton Museum of Art has a fine collection of 19th and 20th Century American watercolor works and contemporary ceramics.
Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in Canton is a testament to this city's local pride. The museum is a tribute to local amateur athletes from a variety of sports. Visitors may be surprised at the amount of local talent that has come from the the Canton area.
The museum is housed in the Renkert-Belden home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
