Isle Royale National Park

The Isle Royale (area 432 sq. mi.) lies in north-western Lake Superior near the Canadian frontier. Its varied topography, shaped by Ice Age glaciers (with many lakes, streams and fjords), its dense deciduous and coniferous forests and its rich wild life (elks, wolves, foxes, otters, ospreys, herring gulls, falcons, trout) attract many visitors to this relatively unspoiled tract of country, which can be explored on waymarked hiking trails and boat trips.
