Buenos Aires - San Telmo San Telmo

San Telmo is an artist's quarter where unconventional types rent cheap large studios and high-density slums have evolved out of single-family dwellings originally built for the capital's elite.

San Telmo was the site of fighting in 1806 when boiling oil was poured down from the rooftops of narrow Calle Defensa onto invading British troops

The area is the site of the renowned Sunday flea market. Boutiques, tango parlors and cafes are found amid cobblestone streets and colonial buildings.
