Agra is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India. Agra is situated on the West bank of the Yamuna River. The Mughal emperor Babur set up his empire in 1526 with Agra as his capital.

The mid-16th to 17th C was a period of major architectural accomplishments such as the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and other major mausoleums. The evidence of the accomplishments is the numerous historical monuments in and around the city.
Agra experiences extremely hot summers and cold, foggy winters. The best time to visit Agra is from October to March.
