When it comes to staying in Jackson Hole (which is actually the name for the entire valley), the main thing you should know before booking a resort is whether you want to stay in the historic town of Jackson or if you want a hotel located in Teton Village, which is where Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, home to the region's best skiing, is located. The two areas are just a 20-minute drive apart, and in winter, many of the downtown Jackson properties run shuttles to the ski mountain.

Both downtown Jackson and Teton Village offer hotels and resorts for all budgets and styles of traveler, whether you're a family, a group of friends, or a honeymooning couple, so it really comes down to what you plan to do.

If you enjoy being within walking distance from multiple shops, restaurants, and galleries in a real town setting, then the historic downtown hotels could be the better choice. But if you are planning an outdoor-activity-focused holiday, you may want to stay in Teton Village, which is also adjacent to the entrance to Grand Teton National Park and comes with its own set of dining options.
