With nearly 500 beaches spread across four bodies of water, including the very popular Maya Riviera on the Caribbean Sea in the Yucatan Peninsula and around Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit on the Pacific Coast, Mexico is well known as a beach destination.

Mexican coastal resorts have been hosting families for generations now, and regardless of budget, you'll find kid-focused amenities and excellent service.

About 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen in Puerto Aventuras, on the Maya Riviera, the family-friendly Barceló Maya Palace is part of the larger Barcelo Maya Grand Resort complex. Guests at this four-star property have access to five other family-friendly properties on the grounds.

This all-inclusive resort also has a number of family suites with minibars stocked with juices, cereals, and milk, as well as microwaves. They also feature two bedrooms and super comfy beds with quality linens.

When it comes to dining, there are 26 restaurants across the resorts to choose from. There are also 14 swimming pools and three on-site water parks (some have an extra fee).
