14 Best Hotels in Split

The Dalmatian coastal town of Split served as a set location for Game of Thrones, but even if you aren't a fan of the show, this is one of Croatia's top tourist destinations and as such is filled with hotels for all budgets and styles of travelers. Whether you are looking for a cheap hotel, boutique guesthouse, or serious 5-star luxury, Split offers something for couples on romantic getaways, families with kids, and solo travelers alike.

When it comes time to book a hotel, you'll want to look in two main places: Old Town and the Adriatic coastline. Old Town is where you'll find the UNESCO-listed historic heart of Split, with its ancient Roman walls, 4th-century Diocletian's Palace, and Pjaca Square. Here, you will find a number of top luxury hotels, mostly on the small boutique side in ancient dwellings.

More hotels are found around the main Bacvice beach area. Farther out, you'll find more affordable properties scattered about the new city center and business district. Even in the outlying areas, however, you are not more than a 15-minute walk from Old Town if you book one of the best Split hotels listed here.
