The Caribbean's Largest Water Park Is Full Of Thrilling Slides And Family-Friendly Fun

If the weather is getting a bit chilly where you are, and you're dreaming of a warm day at a water park, you may want to hop on a plane to the Dominican Republic. In addition to being one of the most affordable spots for a Caribbean vacation, the Dominican Republic is home to the Caribbean's largest water park, El Dorado. Not only is it a 2026 World Travel Awards nominee for the "Caribbean's Leading Water Park" (the winners haven't been announced at the time of this writing), but it has a 4.9-out-of-five rating on Tripadvisor and a 4.7 rating on Google Maps. Right in Cap Cana City in Punta Cana, it's only 6 miles from the Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). There, you'll find over 20 attractions with something for every member of the family, including water slides, a lazy river, and a cenote to swim in. 

There's plenty to do at El Dorado Water Park, plus four restaurants to enjoy during your visit. If you're staying nearby, the park even has round-trip transportation to and from a number of local hotels if you've purchased a regular admission ticket. (Transportation to some accommodations located farther away requires a fee.) One reviewer on Google Maps says, "Great waterpark with a really good layout and loads to do. There was more than just slides, they had a wave pool, snorkeling, canoeing, and a zip line!" The reviewer also mentions that the park wasn't packed with people, something echoed in several other reviews. Another says, "Wow! I can honestly say El Dorado Water Park exceeded every expectation. ... This is not just a water park; it's a tropical escape packed with excitement and relaxation for all ages."

Aside from the idyllic Caribbean setting, there are rides and attractions for all types of water park visitors at El Dorado. If you're looking for low-key fun, you can enjoy the Olas de Magma wave pool, or the Cañón Turquesa, a water cavern that allows you to swim through pretty turquoise water to see a waterfall and into a cenote, as the Salto de Fé zip line flies by overhead. Thrill-seekers can try the Trágame Tierra, which takes you on a four-person raft around a giant funnel and down a water slide. You can also race your friends down the La Caza del Jaguar slide. In the kids' area, the younger set can enjoy the Laguna Medusa and TragaFuegos slides, the Fin Sin Fin lazy river, and other easy-going attractions.

If you're looking for a meal to keep your energy up for water park activities, you have several restaurants to choose from. Bamboorant is the park's main restaurant with casual dishes such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Manatí Café has snacks and drinks. Cocorico has Italian and Mexican fare, while the kids' restaurant Platanito has pizza, wings, burgers, and more. When planning your visit, note that umbrellas and hammocks are included with admission, as are showers and changing facilities; towels are available to rent.
