This Summer Pass Offers Free Admission And Camping Discounts For Canada's National Parks

If you're itching to take an international trip with the time left in the 2026 summer season, you may want to consider Canada. Aside from the beautiful landscapes, and being an escape from the oppressive heatwaves that have been gripping much of the continental U.S., there is another great reason to head north. From June 19 through September 7, 2026, the Canada Strong Pass will allow you to visit all national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada for free, as well as removing the lockage fee at Parks Canada canals. You don't have to be a Canadian citizen. You don't even have to sign up or carry any physical pass. Not only that, but there is a 25% discount for campers at Parks Canada-run sites for tent and RV campers, plus many other accommodations including tipis, yurts, and cabins during that time period.

Canada's most beautiful national parks like Banff (excluding Upper Hot Springs), Gros Morne, Waterton Lakes, and Jasper are included. In fact, the free entry covers 48 national parks, marine parks like Saguenay-St. Lawrence and Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, and Rideau Canal National Historic Site, one of Canada's top attractions for tourists. However, there are some things you still have to pay for and certain places that don't fall under the Canada Strong Pass, so it's important to read the fine print before you go.

One thing to note is that the Canada Strong Pass doesn't apply to provincial, territorial, municipal, or private parks that aren't run by Parks Canada, according to the Canadian government website. It also doesn't cover Sépaq parks in Québec, parking fees, guided tours and other programs not typically included with admission, fishing licenses, mooring, and anything run by a third party. Additionally, Radium, Miette, and Banff Upper Hot Springs aren't included. Be sure to check each site's Canada Strong Pass status, and reserve where needed. The 25% camping discount includes tents, RVs, frontcountry camping, backcountry stays, and many roofed accommodations, but again, check first to ensure your destination is covered. Note that if you have an annual pass that's valid during the Canada Strong Pass period, it'll automatically be extended. 

That isn't all: This summer, many national museums and galleries are also free for those aged 17 and under, or have a 50% off deal for young adults (18 to 24). They include the Canadian Museum of History, the Plains of Abraham Museum, and many more. (You can see the full list here.) There are also VIA Rail Canada deals during the same period, with those 17 and under riding free on Economy and Escape fares and young adults receiving a 25% discount. If your trip is already reserved, you might even be able to get a partial refund, depending on when you booked. Canada has been rated one of the friendliest countries in the world, so make sure you go out and explore while you can visit so many of its lovely locations for free.
