Approximately 200 cherry blossom trees bloom in Chicago's Jackson Park each year, attracting locals and visitors alike. The event is short but sweet — the trees reach their "peak bloom" for just 6 to 14 days between late April and early May. The park covers more than 540 acres on Chicago's South Side, right on the shore of Lake Michigan. The blossoming trees flank the Columbia Basin, a pond south of the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.

Designed as a "strolling garden," it delivers picturesque beauty well beyond the spring months. Visitors can meander along stone walkways and overlook ponds from Japanese bridges, with a waterfall, stone lanterns, and rock formations adding to the peaceful atmosphere. The park also has cherry trees, along with other lush trees and plants.

By design, Osaka Garden is intended to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Guest entry is limited to only 50 people at a time, and visitors can participate in guided tours offered by on-site staff. Whether you wander on your own or with a group, savor the opportunity to slow down, reflect, and practice mindfulness. Osaka Garden could easily be considered one of the most beautiful gardens in the United States, and special care is taken to maintain it. To preserve the delicate environment here, guests are required to stay on the provided paths. Pets, bicycles, and strollers are not allowed, and picnicking is also prohibited.

Osaka Garden is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Jackson Park is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Both Jackson Park and Osaka Garden are free to visit. Jackson Park is located 26 miles from Chicago O'Hare International Airport. It is easy to get to by public transportation from downtown Chicago, and is roughly 13 minutes from the city center by car.
