Ixtapa

Just under 10km/6mi before the modern resort of Ixtapa lies the Playa Hermosa.

It is followed by the attractive beaches of Don Juan, San Juan de Dios, Rodrigo, Las Cuatas, Quieta and Linda.

The offshore islands, with their pretty beaches, often good snorkelling opportunities and varied flora and fauna, include Isla Ixtapa (Isla Grande), Isla de la Pie and Morro de los Pericos. In Ixtapa there is also a pretty tropical lagoon surrounded by lush vegetation. A large marina is in course of construction.

Interesting excursions can be made into the areas surrounding Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa with their fishing villages, coconut, banana and coffee plantations.
