Zejtun - St Gregory's Church
The former parish church of Ste Catherine, now known as St Gregory's, is the best of Malta's older churches. It was built in 1437, the year Zejtun became one of the island's 10 parishes, in an amalgam of style: military, puritanical and Italian. The only parts that remain from the original structure are the nave, the facade and the bellcote. The west-facing Renaissance main door, with fluted pilasters, was added in the mid-16th century, just after the Order arrived in Malta.
