Description
Originally built in 1750 in Wells, the Jefferds Tavern in York was first owned by Samuel Jefferds. It was handed down through the generations until it reached William E. Barry, an architect who restored the home in the 1920's. Following his death the Tavern fell into a state of disrepair and was eventually bought by Elizabeth Perkins, who had it dismantled and moved to York in the early 1940s. The Tavern has since been restored again and is open to the public for tours.
