Bang Lang Reservoir

Highway 410 heads south through highlands covered with dense tropical rainforest broken by the limestone mountains typical of southern Thailand. A winding road 133 km (83 mi.) long (a short stop at the scenically situated Bang Lang reservoir and the hot springs about 20 km (12 mi.) beyond the village of Ban Ayerweng is recommended) leads to the border town of Betong, which is inhabited by Chinese. After the Malayan border the road forks, one branch leads towards Singapore, the other to Butterworth on the Indian Ocean.
