The town of West Bend is located on the Milwaukee River and has done a very good job of making the most of its waterfront location. Numerous parks and walking trails dot the city and excursions on the river are available. The town has a symphony orchestra and is home to the University of Wisconsin, Washington County.
The Old Courthouse Square Museum in West Bend is an architectural gem. Built in the late 19th Century, the building is an excellent example of the Romanesque Revival style. The museum features displays highlighting the local area along with the Norman Colby Interpretive Center on the second floor. This interactive center will delight visitors young and old.
The West Bend Art Museum is located in downtown West Bend and is easy to find. The museum hosts 10 to 14 traveling exhibits a year so something new and interesting is always happening. The main focus of the museum's collection is 19th and 20th century paintings and drawings.
