More than just a place for outdoor enthusiasts, Stevens Point offers several other attractions for the visitor to see. Among them are the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and the historical downtown district. Coupled with these are several museums and fine art galleries.
Located near Babcock, the Sandhill Wildlife Area is a 9,500-acre area of wilderness. The area is popular with hunters, fishermen and trappers along with walkers and hikers. In the winter snowmobiling is a popular pastime as is snowshoeing. Camping is allowed in the Sandhill Wildlife Area but permits are required.

The Museum of Natural History is located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. The museum maintains a collection of exhibits and dioramas explaining a wide variety of topics from the African savannah to the Native American Indians and the way they used to live. One of the highlights of the museum is the woodcarving by artist James F Frechette Jr.
Located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, the Schmeekle Reserve provides an easy escape to nature. Located on the 275 acre property are hiking, biking, and walking trails along with a lake. A visitor center is located on the reserve and can point out the best things to see and do.
