Assiniboine Park Zoo

Winnipeg's Assiniboine Park Zoo is one of Canada's best, a collection of 1250 animals belonging to 300 species, many now threatened with extinction. Special emphasis is given to creatures of the northern latitudes (many of which are indigenous to Canada though there are also some rare exotic species such as the European bison, Siberian tiger and North Chinese leopard).

The Assiniboine Park Zoo's internationally renowned tropical house is home to hundreds of free-flying birds, monkeys and reptiles. Also of interest are the Monkey House and the Native Bird Building. For children there are young animals at Aunt Sally's Farm.
