Winnipeg - Assiniboine Park

Assiniboine, Winnipeg's oldest park, encompasses 150 ha (370 acres) of grass together with superb trees and an English garden.

One of the key attractions at Assiniboine Park is the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Home to a wide variety of animals, flora, and fauna, the zoo makes an excellent outing. Other attractions in the park are the 4-8-2 steam locomotive that can be climbed on and in and the world famous Leo Mol sculpture garden.

Must-see attractions nearby:
An old footbridge crosses the Assiniboine River on one side of the park and leads to wide lawns, and more importantly, a great ice cream parlour.

This is a great place to hang out on summer days or go for a walk.

Adjoining Assiniboine Park on its southern side Assiniboine Forest is a large, 280 ha (692 acre) nature reserve. Various wild creatures and plants can be seen and there is an observation area beside the pond for bird watching.
