Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail / Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route
This exhausting trek through wild country known as the Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail or the Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route, takes at least three weeks and follows in the footsteps of Alexander Mackenzie in 1793. The path leads from West Road (Blackwater) River - between Quesnel and Prince George - to Burnt Bridge Creek on Highway 20, and has become well-known even outside Canada. After covering about 80km/50 miles the road passes through an extremely charming part of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park; information and a heritage trail guide can be obtained from The Alexander Mackenzie Trail Association.
