Weimar Schloss - Art Collections 


Housed in Weimar's Schloss are the Weimar Art Collections, which cover a wide range: German art of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (Thuringian altars, works by Cranach the Elder, Baldung Grien and Bruyn); Italian painting of the 16th and 17th centuries (Veronese, Tintoretto, etc.); Dutch and Flemish painting of the 16th and 17th centuries (Rubens, Brouwer, Ostade, etc.); art of the Goethe period (Füssli/Fuseli, Kraus, Tischbein, Angelika Kaufmann, Graff, Hackert, Koball, Chodowiecki); the German Romantic period (Friedrich, Runge, Kersting, etc.), the Late Romantics and the Weimar school (Schwind, Preller, Blechen, Buchholz, Rohlfs, etc.); and German painting of the 19th and 20th centuries (Rayski, Böcklin, Liebermann, Beckmann, etc.). There is also a collection of graphic art (15,000 drawings, 50,000 sheets of printed graphic art) and a Coin Cabinet (1,500 coins).
