The town of Port Gamble is a unique place, and a National Historic Site. Many of the town's old buildings are well preserved, transporting visitors back to another time period. Be sure to stop in at the General Store, which is also home to the historic museum, while you're in Port Gamble.
Located in the General Store building in Port Gamble, the Of Sea and Shore Museum (Museum of Shells and Natural History) displays a huge collection of shells from around the world. The museum displays the private collection of a local citizen who has been a long time collector of shells and who has traveled extensively.
A visit to the Port Gamble Historic Museum will help visitors to better appreciation this historic town. Port Gamble is a National Historic Site and the museum will help to explain why, while offering insight into the town's history.

Located across from Seattle on the Kitsap Peninsula is the community of Suquamish on the Port Madison Indian Reservation. Chief Seattle, an important native leader from the Suquamish Tribe, is buried in the town.
