Hoquiam, on Grays Harbor, has a number of attractions worth visiting if you are in town for a day or two. Check out the Polson Park and Museum in downtown Hoquiam, the Hoquiam Castle, a National Historic Site, the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge, or the local market.
The Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge, which covers the Grays Harbor Estuary, attracts huge numbers of shorebirds each spring. This is a protected area and activities that may disturb the birds are banned, including biking, jogging, or approaching by boat or kayak.

Tips: Open from dawn until dusk. Best viewing times are between two hours prior to low tide and two hours following low tide.
Hoquiam's Castle Bed and Breakfast is a National Historic Site built at the turn of the 20th Century. It was built by Robert Lytle, one of Hoquiam's elite, and later passed down to his neice. In the 1950s the castle left the family's hands and eventually fell into a state of disrepair. It was restored in the late 1960s and again in the late 1990s when it was turned into a bed and breakfast.
The Ocean Shores Interpretive Center provides natural history displays, along with local area information. One area of the Interpretive Center is designed specifically for children, making it a pleasant spot for families.

The Polson Museum in Hoquiam displays a large collection of artifacts related to the history of Hoquiam and Grays Harbor. Exhibits are laid out in 17 rooms and cover various themes including, railroad, logging, sports, dress, Native Americans, and more.
