Fairfax Attractions

Fairfax is a small city with plenty to amuse visitors and is in the process of upgrading it's down town area. The new development called Old Town Village is slated to be a place for shopping, dining and living.

While you are in Fairfax stop in at the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum, the National Firearms Museum, or the Fairfax Museum, to learn more about this city.
Fairfax Museum and Visitors Center
The Fairfax Museum & Visitors Center located in the city of the same name has a variety of exhibits and displays related to the history of the local area. The museum is housed in the old elementary school that was built in 1873 and lovingly restored. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Fairfax Station Railroad Museum is located in the rebuilt and relocated Fairfax Station railroad depot. The museum presents railroad related artifacts, along with displays on the Civil War and the history of the town and surrounding area.

National Firearms Museum
The National Firearms Museum in Fairfax displays a variety of weapons from all periods of American History from the time of colonization, the pioneering era, the Wild West, and the wars, up to present. The Museum's collection is extensive and interesting from a historical perspective.
