Ashland Attractions
Ashland is home to Randolph Macon College and is typical of a college town. The architecture is an interesting mix of old and new due to the towns long history. Originally Ashland was developed as a mineral springs resort by the railroad.

While in Beaverdam be sure to visit Scotchtown. "Give me liberty or give me death". Patrick Henry, the orator of the American Revolution, uttered this famous line. The home where he lived from 1771 to 1778 was Scotchtown and is located in Beverdam, 11 miles from Ashland. The home is furnished in the styles of the late 18th Century and several interesting articles are on display including a Tea Service and a portrait of George Washington.
