The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge consists of over 9000 acres along the Virginia coastline. The refuge has walking and hiking trails and picnic facilities are available at the visitor's center. The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge has many visitors of the avian type; over 10,000 snow geese, falcons, ducks, and piping plovers.
