Vienna - Northeastern area of the Old Town

From Stephansplatz and Stock-im-Eisen, Kärntner Strasse ( a pedestrian precinct as far as the Opera House), Vienna's most elegant shopping street, extends southward, cuts across the Ring at the Opera House and enters the Karlsplatz. This busy throughfare, perhaps the best known street in Vienna, is lined with offices, shops, cafés and hotels. Under the junction of Kärntner Strasse and the Ring is the Opernpassage, with shops and other institutions. The official Tourist Information Office is at No. 38 Kärntner Strasse.
