Vienna - Central Cemetery Zentralfriedhof

Vienna's Central Cemetery was opened in 1874. It is the largest cemetery in Austria, with an area of 2.5 sq.km/1 sq.mi. The massive Main Gate was designed in 1905 by Max Hegele (1873- 1945), with reliefs by Georg Leisek and Anselm Zinsler. Hegele also built in 1907-10 the Karl- Lueger-Kirche, the Art Nouveau-style church in the center of the cemetery.
