Manchester, VT Tourist Attractions

Manchester, in southern Vermont, is a popular holiday resort (walking in summer and skiing in winter). Anglers should visit the American Museum of Fly Fishing.

Hildene

Hildene in Manchester belonged to Robert Todd Lincoln, the only son of Abraham and Mary Lincoln. The house was built in 1905, when Robert Lincoln was president of the Pullman Company, succeeding George Pullman after his death in 1897. It was occupied by descendants of the Lincoln family until 1975.
Visits include a brief video orientation in the Welcome Center, a self-guided tour of the Lincoln home, a demonstration of the 1,000-pipe Aeolian organ and access to the formal gardens, cutting and kitchen gardens.
Grounds passes are available to visit the gardens, grounds, walking trails and Hildene farm but are not valid for admission into the Lincoln home.

American Museum of Fly Fishing

The American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester displays fishing equipment. It is designed to preserve the heritage of fly fishing. All aspects of fly fishing history are featured including art, crafts, science and the relationship of people to the natural world.

Mount Equinox

Mount Equinox reaches a height of 3,816 feet. From the top there are views to New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Quebec. The Mount Equinox Skyline Drive at 5.2 miles in length is the longest privately owned paved toll road in the USA. It provides access to the summit.

Bromley

Bromley ski area offers 44 runs with 1,334ft/407m of vertical lift. The hill offers something for all levels of skiers with an almost equal number of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs.

Southern Vermont Arts Center

The Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester features classic and contemporary works of art on 407 acres of land. The grounds contain a sculpture garden and hiking trails. The estate is listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
