Description
The starting-point for a trip into the Valdres area is the town of Hønefoss on the river Begna, here also known as the Ådalselv. From there E 16 runs north up the Begna valley, along the east side of Lake Sperillen (23km/14mi long). On the opposite side of the lake can be seen the Høgfjell (1,010m/3,314ft). At the north end of the lake, where the Begna flows into it, is the village of Nes. Here Road 243 diverges on the left to Hedal, which has a 13th century stave church.
