Soglio
From Promontogno a rewarding excursion (3km/2mi) can be made to Soglio (1,090 m/3,576ft; pop. 210) on a road which branches on the right and runs through a chesnut wood. The village was the ancestral home of the Salis family and has three palaces (16th-18th C.) which belonged to them. From the village, huddled around the tall tower of its church on a natural terrace above the valley, there are magnificent views of the Sciora group and the Val Bregaglia.
