Vaduz - Castle

(Local Name: Schloss) To the east of Vaduz, above the town, rises Schloss Vaduz (no admittance), which dates back to the 12th C. The cemetery and buildings on the east side form the oldest part; the chapel is probably High Middle Ages. The round bastions to the northeast and southwest were built in the 16th C. after it was burned down in 1499 by the Confederates. The west side was rebuilt in the 17th C. and between 1901 and 1910 the castle was rebuilt in 16th C. style.
