Utah - Box Elder County Attractions

Box Elder County is located in the northwest corner of Utah. Part of the Golden Spike travel region, the county gets its name from the Box Elder Tree. The area includes Brigham City and Tremonton.
Bear River City, Utah
Bear River City (pop. 750) is a small farming community located eight miles northwest of Brigham City in the Bear River Valley in north central Utah.
Corinne, Utah
The town of Corinne (pop. 620) is located 6.0mi/9.7km west of Brigham City on the west bank of the Bear River in Box Elder County. Corrine was originally one of the few non-Mormon settlements in the territory.

Corinne - Methodist Church
The Methodist Church in Corinne is believed to be the first non-Mormon church in Utah. It was built in 1870.

Mantua - Utah Wildlife Resources Fish Hatchery
The Utah Wildlife Resources Fish Hatchery in Mantua is located 5mi/8km northeast of Brigham. The hatchery is dedicated to the preservation of the Bear Lake Cutthroat Trout.

Golden Spike National Historic Site
(Box Elder County)
On the north side of the Great Salt Lake is the Golden Spike National Historic Site, the point where the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads, starting respectively from Omaha in Nebraska and Sacramento in California, joined up. This first transcontinental railroad was completed on May 10th 1869, when the last spike (the "Golden Spike") was ceremonially driven in. The event is commemorated by an annual re-enactment of the ceremony. The Visitor Center has an exhibition illustrating the importance of the railroad in opening up the West.
The site at Promontory Summit in the Utah Territory joined 1,776 miles of rail.

Tremonton, Utah
Tremonton (pop. 5,600) is the second largest town in Box Elder County in northern Utah. It is located in the Bear River Valley at an elevation is 4,322ft/1,317m.
Tremonton - Box Elder County Fairgrounds
The Box Elder County Fairgrounds in Tremonton hosts special events and activities all year. The grounds feature a fine arts building, horse stalls, and indoor basketball courts.
Tremonton - Northern Box Elder County Museum (closed)

Willard, Utah

Willard Bay State Park
Willard Bay State Park has more than 9,900 acres of fresh water and two marinas. It is a good spot to bird watch for eagles.
