Salt Lake Ranger District
The Salt Lake Ranger District is one of four ranger districts in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The area features numerous hiking trails for all abilities and all skill levels. Skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are offered on some trails during winter months.

Brighton Lakes Trail
The Brighton Lakes Trail leads through the Wasatch-Cache National Forest near Salt Lake City. The trail begins at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon behind the Mount Majestic Lodge. In the first 2.5 miles it passes Lake Mary, Lake Martha and Lake Catherine, before rising to the Catherine Pass at 10,200 feet and down to the Alta Ski Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Deseret Peak Wilderness
The Deseret Peak Wilderness is part of the Salt Lake Ranger District of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The 25,000 acres of forest are located west of Tooele, surrounded by Vickory Mountain, Skull Valley and Mack Canyon. Elevations range from 5,000ft/1,524m to over 11,300ft/3,444m at the top of Deseret Peak.

Lone Peak Wilderness
The Lone Peak Wilderness occupies 30,000 acres in both the Wasatch-Cache and Uinta National Forests. It is surrounded by Little Cottonwood Canyon, American Fork Canyon, the Salt Lake Valley and the Twin Peaks Wilderness. Elevations range from 5,500ft/1,680m to more than 11,000ft/3,353m.

Mill Creek Canyon
The Mill Creek Canyon is located just east of Salt Lake City in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. It has numerous hiking trails.
Mount Olympus Wilderness
The Mount Olympus Wilderness is located near Salt Lake City in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The area boasts 16,000 acres bordered by Mill Creek Canyon, Big Cottonwood Canyon, Gobbler's Knob, Alexander Basin and Dog Lake. Elevations range from just under 5,000ft/1,525m to more than 10,000ft/3,048m.
Twin Peaks Wilderness
The 11,000-acre Twin Peaks Wilderness area is found east of Salt Lake City in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. It is located between Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon.
