Parowan (pop. 2,600) is the county seat and third-largest town in Iron County, Utah. It was settled by Mormon pioneers in 1851 and is now a tourist town.
Across from the Rock Church in Parowan's town square is the Jesse N Smith Home Museum which was built in 1858 of red adobe brick. It is now a museum of the area's history.

10mi/16km northwest of Parowan is a 600ft/183m deep break in the Red Hills called the Parowan Gap. The area features a variety of Indian petroglyphs spanning 1,000 years of history.

The Parowan Heritage Park marks the spot where the first party of settlers of the area, led by Parley P. Pratt, camped while exploring the region in 1850. The flagpole they erected is still standing.

In the center of Parowan's town square is the Rock Church which was begun in 1861, completed in 1867 and restored in the 1940's. It's design is based on that of the Salt Lake City Tabernacle. It is now a museum.
